Enterprise 7 New Features
WoodWing's latest version of the Enterprise publishing system provides enhanced performance, new features for working with dossiers, and advanced searching options.
Enterprise 7 builds upon a rock-solid foundation of features vital for newspaper and magazine publishers, book publishers, ad agencies, and corporate publishers. When used with WoodWing's Content Station application, writers, editors, and other content producers can work with files from a variety of applications like InDesign, InCopy, MS-Word, Photoshop and Illustrator and publish them to the channel that makes sense.
Search 2.0Enterprise 7 introduces the Solr text indexing engine to the publishing system. Now frequent publishers can easily see how much content is in their database - or an external repository running Solr - broken down by important information such as category, section, or author (facets). And support for visual search engines, such as Imprezzeo's, means that users can find similar photos by clicking on a "More Like This" icon beneath an image. Improved Drupal SupportEnterprise's new built-in Drupal plugin allows publishers to more easily integrate the premiere open-source Web content management system into their workflow. Support for synchronized taxonomies, vocabularies and additional fields are just the beginning of the improvements. Extensive Platform SupportEnterprise 7 is ready to support all latest platforms, including Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7, Mac OS 10.6 “Snow Leopard” and Adobe CS4. The memory footprint of Enterprise has been reduced and the server performance has increased. Lightning SpeedTime is money, and no one understands that better than newspapers. Changes to the architecture of Enterprise have resulted in better search performance and more efficient uploading of large files. Plus, visual feedback icons have been added so that users have a better idea of when a file has finished uploading. Prominent Dossier TemplatesWhen putting together an article, users want to start as quickly as possible. That's why Dossier templates are now available directly to users and groups in Content Station's Applications pane. Double-click on an icon and start writing immediately, with all the resources of the original dossier available to you. Multi-component Text EditorContent Station's media-neutral text editor has also been upgraded in order to handle multiple components. A single article can now contain components for headlines, subheads, and body sections. This makes publishing to InDesign much more transparent and is useful for Web CMSes that offer support for summaries, headlines, and the story body. |
Enterprise 7 - what's new video
Improved Dossier AwarenessUpdated Smart Connection plugins for Adobe InDesign and InCopy make it easier than ever to add files to a dossier. Dossiers allow a story-centric approach when creating content, including multimedia components, so that you're not limited by the charateristics of one output channel. Redesigned Dossier InterfaceWith an increased need for working on multiple files, the Content Station dossier interface has been improved to support editing of multiple articles via a tabbed window. Also, the Publication Channels section has been streamlined so that users know instantly what files are being sent to which channel and to remove extra confirmation screens. Additional Email OptionsMore fields have been added to Enterprise 7's email notification functionality. Users that are not logged into the system can receive previews of images and pages along with instructions about the content. A direct link to the Web version of Content Station can also be included - very useful for remote content editors who need to work on a file. More Metadata InfoInDesign and InCopy have additional information in their Smart Connection and Elements panels to let designers and editors know where content is placed and which pages it flows across. There's no need to click on text frames or open documents to see which internal pages a story is placed upon. Smart Catalog IntegrationCorporate publishers will love the new Smart Catalog integration, which makes it easy to connect external structured data like calendars, events, and program schedules to an InDesign document. Items are automatically formatted and can be updated from their external source, all with the click of a button! |
