About the customer
Founded in 1873, Aller Media A/S today is the parent company of a modern media group, which is the leading publisher of newspapers, weeklies and magazines in the Scandinavian countries – 90 media brands in total. The portfolio reaches a weekly circulation of approximately 3.2 million copies. Digital activities include about 100 brand sites and 80 apps. Aller Media employs over 2,500 people. Aller Media was the first publisher in Scandinavia to publish all magazines and weeklies on iPad and iPhone. All subscribers have free access to the electronic versions non-subscribers have to pay for. In addition, all magazines have websites and Facebook profiles.
Challenge
Aller Media found that existing content is not reused and repurposed as broadly as possible, limiting further monetization of these assets. The distribution of content through mobile apps and digital channels was an option, but repurposing of existing content was too time-consuming and costly.
The intuitiveness of WoodWing Studio (former Inception) allowed users to work with our customized templates within ten minutes. This is what we were looking for.

Evaluation
Aller Media was looking for ways to increase the productivity of their workflows and the return on their digital assets. The company evaluated various options, but they tend to be very expensive or required a lot of development. For a pilot project, the team selected Inception to produce the content for a mobile app for Aller Media's print magazine “SPIS BEDRE”. The project aimed for further monetization of assets including articles and stories, while securing advertisers.
It was great to see that the team at Aller Media was able to build the app in a highly effective manner in just a few days and with minimum support from us.

Implementation/integration
As a benefit of the high ease of use of WoodWing Studio, Aller Media enjoyed a steep learning curve. Thanks to the customizable Inception templates the creation of the templates took just a few hours. The content designed in Inception is published via Adobe Experience Manager Mobile, one of the channels Inception can publish to. The contents of the app are taken from Content Station, the editorial management application of WoodWing Enterprise Aller Media uses across brands and countries, and the archives maintained in WoodWing Assets (previously known as Elvis DAM).

- From the first idea to the finished app it took just four weeks.
