About the client
Fetch is America’s #1 Rewards App, with 12 million weekly active users. The app offers rewards and savings, so-called Fetch points, to users when they shop for groceries or other everyday items. They can earn these rewards by scanning their grocery receipts from participating stores. Fetch partners with many grocery stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores, including chains like Walmart, Target, and Kroger.
Fetch is praised for its user-friendly, intuitive interface. Within the app, users take pictures of their receipts. The app's Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology then reads the receipt to identify eligible products. Points are awarded based on purchases, but the app also regularly includes bonus point offers for specific products or brands. Users can redeem their earned Fetch Points for various rewards, such as gift cards for Amazon and Starbucks.
Fetch has 800 employees, with offices in Madison, Chicago, Boston, New York, Birmingham, and Mexico City.
The challenge
Before implementing WoodWing Assets into their workflow, the company used Google Drive to house their creative assets and working files. The team faced many challenges with the continued use of Drive, which was not developed for Digital Asset Management. The daily practice of locating assets and files was time-consuming and led to significant delays for team members who needed access. Files in use often were not correctly returned to Google Drive, resulting in additional delays and versioning issues, causing chaos and confusion.
The team also lacked the capability to track the history of files or determine who had edited them. Previewing videos and assets involved a cumbersome process of locating, downloading, and opening them in a separate application, further wasting time. The previous system did not offer the capability to utilize AI for the tagging process, which, once implemented, would significantly increase productivity by eliminating the need for manual tag addition. Most critically, the previous system was not scalable to match the growing ambitions of Fetch and its rapidly expanding teams.
Why WoodWing Assets
Fetch’s workflow, file organization, pain points, and use cases were all assessed to help determine the best path forward. After considering multiple DAM solutions and evaluating solution proposals, tool features, and costs, the team at Fetch chose WoodWing for numerous reasons. They found the platform to be easy to navigate, very adaptable, able to scale up with their business and within their planned budget.
The functions and capabilities included with WoodWing Assets allowed me to customize the DAM to suit Fetch’s needs and integrate its use within our existing workflow with Jira.

Implementation
WoodWing Assets offered better features, better pricing, and excellent support, and implementing this digital asset management solution at Fetch was a smooth process. The platform was first rolled out to the Marketing Creative Team, followed by the Product Design Team. Both groups received training from the internal Sr. Digital Asset Manager, and thanks to its intuitive nature, the new system was adopted quickly by all. In the next phase, they worked with other company members to establish and explain how to use the tool for various functionalities, including sharing, downloading, and searching capabilities.
It's interesting to mention that the team is considering the integration options of WoodWing Connect to enable the DAM to connect with AI technologies like AWS Rekognition and Clarifai, and possibly with a project management system.
Results and benefits
The functions and capabilities included in WoodWing Assets enabled customization of the DAM to suit Fetch's needs and its integration within the existing workflow with Jira. Woodwing Assets provided a central location for all teams to store and quickly locate assets, reducing search times from extended periods ranging from 5-40 minutes to mere seconds.
By implementing WoodWing Assets into their process, Fetch can now centralize the entire company’s creative assets (past & present) into a scalable, shareable, cloud-based access point. On top of that, the organization no longer suffers from version control issues or missing files on the server. Plus, it has been a helpful platform in sharing creatives with partners for review and as a depository for them to reshare reviewed assets with Fetch.
